Aashma Marahatta

Paralegal – Litigation
LLB (Hons) (Lond.) (1st Class)

Aashma joined the firm in January 2017 after having read Law at Queen Mary University of London. She graduated with first class honours and obtained a first-class LLB degree. She is currently undertaking her Legal Practice Course part-time at BPP University in London and considering a Masters of Law degree.

Aashma ably assists our solicitors and barristers on a wide variety of legal matters including property and financial litigation, tax disputes, professional negligence claims, costs, debt recovery and insolvency matters.

She recently played a key role in an urgent multi-million dollar letter of credit litigation case. We were instructed to engage in aggressive litigation in order to obtain urgent payment under the letter of credit. The funds had been wrongly dishonoured by the paying bank who instructed another City of London law firm. Together with a LEXLAW partner and Queen’s Counsel, she helped the client issue litigation and obtain full payment plus recovery of all legal costs within several days of us being instructed. The commercial bank also agreed to forego their profit under the documentary credit.

Aashma enjoys working on corporate insolvency law matters and has prepared a number of validation order applications. One such successful application earned judicial praise from a Companies Court Judge who found the application to be ‘very well presented and convincing‘.
