# LEXLAW featured on BBC Radio 4’s The Report: Interest Rate Swaps Mis-selling

LEXLAW Principal, M Ali Akram, was interviewed by BBC Radio 4′s “The Report” alongside our client, a firm of family butchers, who are bank mis-selling victims.

The programme discusses the mis-selling of interest rate swaps (derivatives) by retail banks to UK businesses. These derivatives were sold to small businesses from 2005 to 2008 when they were often encouraged to take out derivatives to ‘protect’ them from fluctuating interest rates.

This is an issue that has negatively impacted a wide range of businesses such as property developers/investors, franchise chains, hotels and as highlighted in The Report, even a butchers shop in East London.
